3 Super Tips for Fresher's
As a fresh graduate, one of our biggest concern is landing a job. Just as this horrifying thought creeps through our mind, we want answers really quick. What we really forget to address is the questions that surround the issue.
So while I try not making this sound an easy task, there are just a couple of questions that we need to ask ourselves before we step out into the big corporate world.
1) Know what you want -
It is really essential to know what exactly you want. This is one of the most important questions you HAVE to have an answer to. You can't walk into an interview not knowing if that is exactly what you see yourself doing in the years to come.
So take the time out to think what your forte is really. If you can't figure out yourself, take external help like approaching a counselor. Look up the internet to read more on your areas of interest. All you have to do is be sure if what you want to get into before you walk into an interview.
2) Resume -
So most of us take this for granted. Your resume reflects you and your interests during an interview. Since you're walking into that interview as a fresher, your resume is all you have to show, so make it happening!
Your resume is supposed to be structured with attention. Don't take it for granted that the interviewer isn't going to pay attention to your resume. So the interviewer will look at exactly what you choose to show in your resume.
The trick is here. It's a 30 second task. You have to be able to highlight your strong points in a resume. After you're done structuring your entire resume, pass it on to your friends or any known person and give them exactly 30 seconds to look at your resume. Post this scanning; ask them what they remember the most when they looked at your resume. This will help you put your pointers in order and highlight what is really important.
So, you know now how important your resume really is. If you still haven’t got your resume in order, now is the time, Get Going!
3) Confidence -
This is something that is easily lost. So job hunting can be exhausting, and you may really want to give up at one point, but it is essential to keep your calm and hold on to the confidence you built initially when you started the job search.
As much as you are demotivated, your confidence at every stage will keep you going and assure you that you will land a job one day. The more confident you are, the more you are able to look at the situation positively. So if you haven't landed a job after three months of tireless search, the trick is to keep your confidence level stable. You need to keep asking yourself to hold on and stay calm. The right job isn't always easy to find and the right one always takes time.
To boost confidence levels, you can always take up short courses that don't let you stay idle for too long. This could be really essential from a job aspect and will add weight to your resume.
So at any point, you decide to give up, think again, and remind yourself that you are good at what you do. Motivation and confidence will keep you going, and these qualities surely reflect at the time of your interview.
To sum up, three basic points that could really play a vital role in job search especially when you're just out of college, unaware of what the corporate world exactly is like.
But, you have to get there, you have to build yourself and you have to give it your best shot.
